Storm Window Costs & Prices

Storm window costs range from $75 to $275 installed per opening. These inserts are attached to the existing window (or to the window frame) on either the interior or the exterior for added protection and increased energy efficiency. We will breakdown three price points for storm window inserts and explain what each price level will get you in terms of quality and materials.

Entry Level Storm Window Costs

Entry level storm inserts will run $75 to $125 for the insert itself and installation. At this price point we are almost always talking about a vinyl frame, which may or may not be a good thing. A well made vinyl window frame is strong, offering solid energy efficiency and durability - the problem is there are a whole host of manufacturers out there that produce less than stellar vinyl frames. $100 for the insert itself should get you a decent insert that will be very simple and probably come in white or off white. The installation on most entry level products is often done by a local handyman and will run $25 to $50 per insert, depending on how simple the job.

Mid Range Storm Window Costs

Mid range storm inserts will run $125 to $175 for the insert itself and installation. When we get into the $100 to $125 price point on the storm window itself, we begin to see stronger materials, whether that's better made vinyl extrusions or aluminum or fiberglass frames. These will be strudier units and will usually come with more color selections and maybe even some frame finish options. In this mid range price point there will probably be vertical and horizontal window shapes, but little else.

High End Storm Window Costs

High end storm inserts will run $200 to $275 for the insert itself and installation. Here you should be talking about fiberglass or aluminum storm windows that are nice and solid and hopefully nice looking. Expect more color options and even custom sizing for each opening. At this top price point, you will also see more specific window shapes such as round tops and eybrow windows.
